Tennis Heads To Mastodon Invite

AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron tennis
team travels to Fort Wayne, Ind., and the IPFW campus this weekend
to compete in the Mastodon Invitational. The two-day event gets
underway Friday at 9 a.m. with three flights of doubles
competition. The singles portion of the event will be held on
Saturday.
To due inclement weather Friday's matches will be played at an
indoor facility in Warsaw, Ind. With limited courts available play
is not expected to be completed until late Friday evening.
Saturday's singles matches start at 9 a.m. and are at two sites.
Flights 1, 2, and 3 are at IPFW Tennis Courts and Flights 4, 5, and
6 are at Kreager Park Tennis Courts.
Akron comes off a successful showing at last weekend's Martha
Thorne Invitational at West Virginia.
Highlights of the weekend for the Zips consisted of Kerry
Langworthy advancing to the semifinal round of the main draw of
flight B singles on Saturday, while Alyssa Carlson posted
victories in both singles and doubles consolation play on Sunday.
Carlson went 5-2 over the three-day event.
A select number of UA athletes will travel to the ITA Midwest
regional on Oct. 19. This year's event is being held on the
Michigan State campus in East Lansing, Mich.
