Tennis Athletes Head To ITA Regional

Tanya Gombera (Harare,
Zimbabwe/Chisipite Senior School) will compete in Thursday's
singles qualifier of the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association
Midwest Regional Championships in East Lansing, Mich., on the
Michigan State campus.
Gombera will face Indiana's Lindsay Stuckey in the round of 64,
with the winner earning the right to face the victor of the match
between Ohio State's Julie Voss and Illinois' Shivani Dave.
Gombera will team with fellow Zips athlete
Kerry Langworthy (Harare,
Zimbabwe/Gateway HS) in Friday's qualifying round of doubles. The
draw for doubles has yet to be released.
In addition to Michigan State, the championship will feature top
Division I players from Xavier, Northwestern, Youngstown State,
IPFW, Valparaiso, Chicago State, Illinois, Notre Dame, Cincinnati,
Bradley, Akron, Western Michigan, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Wright
State, Eastern Illinois, Northern Illinois, Illinois-Chicago,
Marquette, Butler, Detroit Mercy, Eastern Michigan, Bowling Green,
Drake, Ohio State, DePaul, Purdue, Cleveland State, Wisconsin-Green
Bay, Michigan, Indiana, Iowa, Indiana State, Wisconsin, Toledo and
Minnesota.
The singles finalists and doubles champion from this event will
earn spots in the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships
hosted by Ohio State at the Racquet Club of Columbus on Nov.
2-5.
