Zips Sit in Second After Day One
October 21 | Men's Golf
- The University of Akron golf ended day one of the Hoya
Invitational in second place, carding in 301 strokes on the
afternoon.
Colin Clemente (Hubbard,
Ohio/Warren JFK HS) led the Zips in round one with a two-over
par-73 (37-36), ending the day tied for fifth place.
Senior
Blake Sattler (New
Philadelphia, Ohio/New Philadelphia HS) posted a front-nine mark of
36, but added three strokes to that total on the back half of the
course to end the day with 75 swings.
Ryan Culbertson (Wooster,
Ohio/Wooster HS) (39-37=76) finished one stroke back of Sattler on
the par-71, 6,718-yard course at the Club at Four Streams.
Vaughn Snyder (Massillon,
Ohio/Canton Central Catholic HS) rests in a tie for 25th place as
he carded in a six-over par-77 (39-38) in round one.
Sophomore
Brad Wright (Cambridge,
Ohio/Cambridge HS) rounded out the Zips scorecard with 78 (37-41)
strokes.
UA trails the leader, William & Mary, by just two strokes
heading into tomorrow's final round action.
