Tennis Closes Regular Season This Weekend

AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron tennis team wraps up regular-season play with a pair of Mid-American Conference home matches this weekend. The Zips (5-13, 1-5 MAC) face off against Ball State on Friday and Miami on Saturday. Both matches get underway at 1 p.m. EDT and will be held at Hyre Park.
The Zips will bid farewell to senior Jennifer Ales, who will play in her final home match on Saturday.
Akron enters the weekend following a 4-3 victory at Northern Illinois last Friday, and sit in eight place in the conference standings - one notch ahead of NIU.
Ball State (8-10, 2-4) and Miami (10-8, 5-1) last competed last Saturday, facing off against one another. MU won that match 6-1 in Muncie, Ind.
Miami, who is fighting to clinch the No. 2 seed in next weekend's MAC Tournament, plays at Buffalo on Friday before traveling to Akron.
The MAC Championship will be held in Oxford, Ohio, on the Miami campus, with the quarterfinal round getting underway on April 27.
