Tennis Travels To MAC Championship

AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron tennis team heads to Oxford, Ohio, this weekend for the Mid-American Conference Championship being held on the Miami (Ohio) campus.
Eighth-seeded Akron (5-15, 1-7 MAC) faces off against ninth-seeded Northern Illinois at noon EDT on Thursday in the event's first round. The winner will take on first-seeded Western Michigan at 2 p.m. on Friday in quarterfinal play.
UA's lone conference victory this season, a 4-3 decision, came against NIU on April 14 in DeKalb, Ill. The Huskies have lost 12-straight matches, while the Zips have lost two-straight and eight of their last nine contests.
The tournament's semifinal round will be held on Saturday at 1
p.m., with the final match set for Sunday also at 1 p.m.
