Zips End Day Two Of MAC Championship In Fifth Place

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The University of Akron men's golf team dropped on spot on day two after an 11-over 299 during round three and currently sits in fifth place at the 2006 Mid-American Conference Championship at the par-72, 6,994-yard Brickyard Crossing Golf Course.
Kent State expanded its lead with a 5-under 283 to finish atop the leaderboard at 6-under 858. Ball State and Eastern Michigan finished the round tied for second place at 9-over 873 while the Zips are at 21-over 885, four shots out of fourth place.
Colin Clemente (Hubbard, Ohio-Warren JFK) carded the low round of the day for the Zips, posting a 1-over 73 to finish the day tied for 29th place at 10-over 226.
Vaughn Snyder (Massillon, Ohio-Canton Central Catholic), who started the day tied for third place, dropped to a 10th-place tie at 2-over 218 following a third-round 4-over 76.
Ryan Gutowski (Fairlawn, Ohio-Copley) ended day two tied for 26th place at 7-over 223 after carding a round of 4-over 76. Brad Wright (Cambridge, Ohio-Cambridge) posted the second-best UA round on the day with an 18-hole tally of 2-over 74 and tied for 33rd place with teammate Ryan Culbertson (Wooster, Ohio-Wooster) at 11-over 227. Culbertson carded a round of 4-over 76.
The Zips and the rest of the field will wrap up the 2006
championship tournament tomorrow morning with tee times beginning
at 8:30 a.m. from the first and tenth tees. Follow all the action
