Akron Golf Ends Season With Seventh-Place Showing At MAC Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The University of Akron men's golf team ended the 2005-06 campaign with a seventh-place finish at the 2006 Mid-American Conference Men's Golf Championship on Saturday at the par-72, 6,994-yard Brickyard Crossing Golf Course in Indianapolis, Ind.
The Zips ended the day with a four-round total of 42-over 1,194 after posting a final-round 21-over 309. Kent State won its second-consecutive MAC Championship with a three-day tally of 1-over 1,153 while Ball State (1,164) and Eastern Michigan (1,167) rounded out the top-three.
Vaughn Snyder (Massillon, Ohio-Canton Central Catholic) posted a top-15 finish in his first league championship, finishing tied for 15th place at 7-over 295. Ryan Gutowski (Fairlawn, Ohio-Copley) ended the day tied for 27th place at 11-over 299 while Colin Clemente (Hubbard, Ohio-Warren JFK) posted a three-day total of 16-over 304 to finish tied for 33rd place.
Ryan Culbertson (Wooster, Ohio-Wooster) carded a score of 17-over 305 over the weekend to finish in 35th place while Brad Wright (Cambridge, Ohio-Cambridge) concluded the season with a 38th-place finish at 20-over 308.
The Zips will return to action next fall when they kick off the 2006-07 season.
