Three Zips Golfers Stay Alive at Ohio Amateur

Three University of Akron men's golfers - Blake
Sattler (New Philadelphia, Ohio/New Philadelphia HS),
Vaughn Snyder (Massillon, Ohio, Canton Central
Catholic HS) and Ryan Gutowski (Copley,
Ohio/Copley HS) - remained alive at the 2006 Ohio Amateur, which is
being held at the Canterbury Golf Club, as each made the 54-hole
cut.
Sattler, a senior in the fall, is in a four-way tie for 15th after
posting a 7-over 78 during Thursday's third-round action. He has a
54-hole total of 6-over 219 (71-70-78). The 2005 first-team
All-Mid-American Conference choice was fifth entering today's
action.
Jason Kokrak of Warren took over the third-round lead by firing a
3-under 68. He is at 7-under-par 206 for the tournament. Marty
Miller of Middletown, the second-round leader, is second at 4-under
209.
Snyder, a sophomore this coming fall, shot a 4-over 75 in the
third round to drop from a 13th-place tie into a four-way tie for
19th. He has a 54-hole total of 7-over 220 (74-71-75).
Junior-to-be Gutowski, who made the 36-hole cut by one shot, had
the best round of the day among the Zips, shooting a 2-over 73. He
is tied for 32nd at 11-over 224 (77-74-73).
Play concludes tomorrow with the final 18 holes. Gutowski tees off
at 8:36 a.m., Snyder at 9:12 a.m. and Sattler at 9:21 a.m.
