Golf Hopes to Stay Hot at The McLaughlin

- The University of Akron golf team will look to build off of
its third-place finish at the Wolverine Intercollegiate when it
travels to Farmingdale, N.Y. this weekend to take part in The
McLaughlin Tournament.
The 17-team tournament will get underway with a double round (36
holes) on Friday starting at 8:30 a.m. EDT with the third round to
take place on Saturday morning.
St. John's University will be hosting the event at The Red Course
at Bethpage. The "Red" is a parkland course that features numerous
doglegs, tree-lined fairways and quick greens. The course plays to
a par of 70 and covers 7,100 yards. Recent renovations to the
course have added 40 yards on holes eight and 10.
Other teams that will be joining the Zips and the Red Storm
include, Binghamton, Columbia, Connecticut, Drexel, Hartford,
Harvard, Hofstra, Iona, Marquette, Penn, Princeton, St. Thomas
Aquinas, Seton Hall, Temple and Winthrop.
Winthrop and St. John's battled to a first-place tie at last
year's tournament.
