After Day One Zips in First at the Belmont Fall Shootout

Nashville, Tenn.-After 36 holes of play the Zips are in first place at the Belmont Fall Shootout in Nashville, Tennessee. They lead the pool of 12 teams with 576 (291-285) total strokes on the par-72, 7,043-yard course.
"I felt pleased about the way our guys handled the wind and the slick greens to post a nice score," said first year head coach Nick Goetze. "Tomorrow will be a great opportunity for us to play aggressive and take home our first team title."
Dependable senior Colin Clemente leads the Zips with 140 (71-69) strokes and is 4-under par. He is tied for second place overall.
Sophomore Jacob Patte is tied for eighth place overall and is second for the Zips. He shot a two-round total of 143 (73-70).
After a difficult first round, senior Ryan Gutowski recovered in the second round shooting 1-under par with 147 (76-71) total strokes on the day. Gutowski and senior Vaughn Snyder are both tied for 18th place. Snyder shot a two-round total of 72-75 (147).
Rounding out the Zips scorecard is freshman Drew Davidson who ended the day with 151 (75-76) strokes.
The other 11 teams participating include: Cleveland State, Florida Gulf Coast, Northern Illinois, Miami (OH), Campbell, Ball State, Troy, Austin Peay, William and Mary, Marshall and tournament host Belmont University.
The Zips will look to bring home the title tomorrow when they play the final round.
