Tennis Drops 6-1 Decision To Bowling Green

AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron tennis team lost 6-1 to Bowling Green on Saturday in a Mid-American Conference match at LaTuchie Tennis Center. The loss was the Zips' fourth straight and dropped their record to 9-8, 0-4 MAC. The Falcons improved to 10-5, 2-1 MAC while tallying their fifth victory in six outings.
Akron took an early 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point. The Zips pair of Tanya Gombera and Amy Sherlock were victors at No. 1, 8-5, while Jenna Larson and Lindsey Berry scored an 8-5 win at No. 2. UA's Laura Hemlepp and Aude Percherin registered an 8-5 loss at No. 3.
But, the blue and gold were unable to keep up the momentum in singles play, giving up all six points in straight sets. Gombera lost 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1, Larson 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2, Sherlock 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3, Berry 6-1, 7-5 at No. 4, Alyssa Carlson, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 and Hemlepp 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6.
The Zips will spend the next two weekends on the road, traveling to Buffalo (April 6), Robert Morris (April 7), Eastern Michigan (April 13) and Toledo (April 14).
