Tennis Gets Shut Out At Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio - The University of Akron tennis team gave up a 7-0 decision to Toledo in a Mid-American Conference match on Saturday at UT Varsity Courts.
The loss dropped the Zips to 9-11 and 0-7 against conference competition, while the Rockets improved to 14-4 and 4-1 versus league foes.
Toledo took a 1-0 advantage by winning the doubles point, notching 8-4 victories at Nos. 1 and 3, and an 8-1 edge at No. 2.
UT carried its momentum into singles play, winning all six contests in straight sets. The highlight of UA's play in singles came at the No. 2 spot, where Jenna Larson lost 6-2, 7-6 (7). In the 10 other singles sets the Zips scored no more than three points.
Akron takes a break from league play on
Wednesday when it travels to Robert Morris for a 2:30 p.m. EDT
match. The Zips then wrap up the regular season on Saturday with a
home match against MAC opponent Northern Illinois at Hyre Park at 1
p.m. EDT.
