Wednesday Tennis Canceled, Senior Day On Saturday
April 17 | Women's Tennis
AKRON, Ohio - Wednesday's University of Akron at Robert Morris women's tennis match has been canceled due to cool temperatures and the possibility of inclement weather in Moon Township, Pa. The event was originally scheduled for April 7, but due to inclement weather was postponed until April 18 and has now been removed from the slate all together.
Akron (9-11, 0-7 MAC) will close out the regular season against Mid-American Conference opponent Northern Illinois (4-10, 0-6) on Saturday at 1 p.m. EDT at Hyre Park (driving directions). The NIU contest serves as the final home match for senior Jenna Larson and foreign exchange student Aude Percherin.
Larson (Bismarck, N.D./Century HS), who is team captain, owns a 4-12 No. 2 singles record this season, after battling through a nagging back injury. She has teamed with sophomore Lindsey Berry to compile a 9-8 mark at the No. 2 doubles slot this year. Larson sat out 2004-05 following rotator cuff surgery.
Percherin (La Teste-de-Buch, France/Saint Elme HS/ESC Rennes
School of Business) has played a valuable role for the Zips' this
season, providing coach Jeffrey Wyshner line-up
options with Larson and sophomore Kerry Langworthy missing
time due to injury at various points of the year. Percherin owns a
4-2 record at No. 6 singles and has also teamed with junior Laura
Hemlepp (4-5) and sophomore Alyssa Carlson (0-4) at No.
3 doubles.
Akron will compete in the MAC
Championship on April 26-29, with Toledo serving as host.
