Tennis Preps For Friday Meeting With Buffalo
April 05 | Women's Tennis
AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron tennis team will attempt to stop a four-match losing streak when it travels to University at Buffalo for a Mid-American Conference contest on Friday at 1 p.m. EDT. Due to a forecast of chilly temperatures and a possible mixture of rain and snow, the match has been moved indoors to the Village Glen Tennis Center.
Akron (9-8, 0-4 MAC) was also scheduled to compete at Robert Morris in a non-league match-up on Saturday, but the threat of inclement weather has postponed that event until April 16 at 3 p.m.
The Zips dropped a pair of home conference matches last weekend - losing 7-0 to 62nd-ranked Western Michigan on Friday and 6-1 to Bowling Green a day later.
Buffalo (11-2, 3-1) enters the weekend having won in five of its last six outings. The loss came last Saturday to Western Michigan by a count of 6-1, but the Bulls defeated Bowling Green 4-3 a day earlier.
UA's upcoming schedule consists of trips to Eastern Michigan (April 13), Toledo (April 14) and Robert Morris (April 16). The Zips close the regular season at home on April 21 against Northern Illinois. The MAC Championship runs April 26-29, with Toledo serving as host.
