Golf Adds Three for 2007-08

Coming off of the best season in school history, the
University of Akron men's golf team will add three new faces to
help guide them to their first Mid-American Conference Championship
in 2007-08.
Drew Davidson comes to Akron from nearby Canton,
Ohio, where he was a standout on the links for Canton Central
Catholic High School. Davidson was an OHSAA Division II All-State
selection and qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur in 2006.
Davidson, who also served as team captain as a senior, has a strong
short-game and good scoring ability.
Doug Underwood, who signed with the Zips during
the fall, was an All-State selection from Stow High School.
Underwood, who served as the Bulldogs team captain during his
junior and senior seasons, also was named the Western Reserve
Conference Player of the Year this past season.
Strongsville, Ohio native Kevin Pikus was an
All-Sectional and All-District selection from Cleveland St.
Ignatius High School. As a senior he claimed medalist honors at
four different events and tallied a 74.8 scoring average. Pikus,
who was accepted into the honors program to major in mechanical
engineering, was also a Westfield Junior PGA qualifier as a
senior.
The Zips will kickoff of their 2007-08 season on Sept. 10 at the
Music City Invitational in Chattanooga, Tenn.
