Former Zips standout, Blake Sattler, is well on his way to
becoming a member of the PGA tour. Currently, the native of New
Philadelphia, Ohio, is in the 54-hole lead in a PGA Tour
pre-qualifying tournament at the St. Johns Golf and Country Club in
Jacksonville, FL.
He is at 4-under 212 to lead Eric Meierdierks (76) by one shot and
Scott Griffin (72) and Kevin Fortin-Simard (69) by two.
Sattler, who played for the Zips from 2002-2007, was a three-time
All-Mid-American Conference player, twice on the first team.
In the PGA tour, the top 32 players, plus ties, after today's final
round will advance to a PGA Tour first-stage qualifier next
month.
There are four more rounds there, four rounds in a second-stage
qualifier and six rounds in the national qualifying tournament in
Orlando later this fall. If he can get through all that, he will
take his place on the PGA tour.
"You can't think past the round you've got to play," said Sattler,
who is making his first attempt at the Tour's qualifying
process.
