Tennis Opens 2007-08 Season This Weekend

The University of Akron tennis team begins its 2007-08
season this weekend in Morgantown, W.Va., at the Martha Thorne
Invitational, hosted by the University of West Virginia.
Competition runs Friday-Sunday, with doubles action starting at
1:30 p.m. EDT on Friday and singles play following at 3:30 p.m.
Joining Akron and West Virginia in the tournament field are
Morehead State, University of Charleston and West Virginia
State.
Akron returns six players and welcomes in two freshmen this season
after posting a 9-13 record (0-8 Mid-American Conference) in
2006-07, in head coach Jeffrey Wyshner's first year at the helm of
the program. The Zips' nine victories was their most since the
1998-99 squad won 14.
UA's fall schedule continues Sept. 14-16 at the Bowling Green
Invitational in nearby Bowling Green, Ohio.
