Tennis Program Signs Twins From Indonesia
November 23 | Women's Tennis
AKRON, Ohio - Twins Angelina and Angelika
Jogasuria, who hail from Serpong, Indonesia, have signed national
letters of intent to compete for the University of Akron tennis
team beginning in the 2009-10 season.
The pair attend St. John's School and then Sman 1 Pamulang in
Serpong, and grow the list of talented international players that
third-year UA coach Jeffrey Wyshner has infused
into the Zips program during his tenure.
"I couldn't be more excited that Angelina and Angelika will be an
important part of the Akron tennis program for the next four
years," Wyshner said. "They combine everything you look for in a
student-athlete. They are outstanding students with a strong sense
of commitment to their family, their studies and their sport. It is
very exciting that they have entrusted their development as
student-athletes to this University and its tennis program. They
will have an immediate impact on our program next season."
The sisters were both highly accomplished swimmers and runners
before concentrating on their tennis careers.
"Angelina and Angelika both have very bright futures in tennis
because of their incredible athleticism," Wyshner said. "They are
already very talented players, but their strength and quickness
suggests that they have the potential to play at the game's highest
levels in a few years."
Below is a look at their tennis careers to date.
