Men's Golf Looking for a Repeat Performance

Akron, Ohio-The University of Akron men's golf team will look to repeat their performance this weekend from last year's tournament championship as they travel to Nashport, Ohio for the 2008 Mid-American Conference Championships hosted by Eastern Michigan University.
Akron which posted a second place finish in the tournament last year, the highest finish to date since joining the league in 1993, enter the challenging field of nine as strong contenders hoping for a even better finish this year.
The Zips are coming off a strong showing at the one day, two-round FirstEnergy Intercollegiate where they placed fifth posting a team score of 361-373 (734).
Freshman Doug Underwood carded the best finish of his collegiate career at the tournament, only his third of the season, to finish in first for Akron and tied for 11th place overall shooting two rounds of 70-74 (144). His solid performance was highlighted by a hole-in-one on hole 14 which is the only ace shot during a tournament of the Zips squad this season.
Along with Underwood, fellow freshman Drew
Davidson, sophomore Jacob Patte and seniors Ryan
Gutowski and Colin Clemente will be competing this weekend for
UA at the par-72, 7,342-yard Longaberger Golf Club.
