Clemente Named to Academic All-MAC Team

Mid-American Conference announced Wednesday morning that Zips
senior Colin Clemente was named to the 2008 Men's Golf
Academic All-MAC team after a stellar year in the classroom and on
the course.
A 3.2 grade point average majoring in biology, the academic nod is the second of its kind for Clemente in as many years.
Clemente, along with Ciaran McAleavy of Toledo
and Graham Hill of Eastern Michigan were named to this year's
academic squad after being selected to the All-MAC first team.
Clemente and McAleavy were also named to this year's All-Tournament
squad.
Also outstanding during play, Clemente was the top golfer for Akron this season posting seven top-10 and ten top-25 finishes in 13 tournaments of play including a fourth place finish at the recent MAC Championships where he carded a 290 (72-73-70-75).
Clemente's best finish came at the Xavier
Invitational where his three round score of 12-under 204 (69-69-66)
earned him MAC Golfer of the Week honors for the third time in his
career.
The six-member team was voted on by the
league's faculty athletic representatives from among a list of
student-athletes who have excelled in athletic and academics.
