Clemente Named Men's Golf Assistant Coach

Akron, Ohio-Former University of Akron men's golf standout Colin Clemente has been added to the Zips' staff as an assistant coach, head coach Nick Goetze announced on Thursday.
"Colin's success as a student-athlete will certainly make him a great role model for our next generation of Akron golfers," said Goetze. "His disciplined style and competitive success is going to be invaluable as we work together to help our young players achieve academically and athletically."
During Clemente's four years (2004-08) as a Zip he carded a
74.62 scoring average through 130 rounds of play. His best season
came as a senior where he had a stellar final campaign averaging
73.49 while posting seven top-10 and ten top-25 finishes throughout
13 tournaments. Known for his consistency, Clemente's best finish
of the season came at the Xavier Invitational (Oct. 1-2) where his
three round score of 12-under 204 (69-69-66) earned him MAC Golfer
of the Week honors for the third time in his career.
A member of the 2007 MAC Championship team Clemente posted a ninth
place finish helping the team post a school-best second-place
overall finish, however, his best conference championship finish
came at the 2008 tournament where he posted a team high fourth
place finish carding 290 (72-73-70-75).
Clemente highlighted his senior season garnering a spot on the All-MAC first team and All-MAC tournament team as well as being named to the All-MAC Academic team for the second time in as many years.
A native of nearby Hubbard, Ohio, Clemente recently graduated with a degree in biology.
