Men's Golf Prepares for Saint Mary's Invitational

Akron, Ohio-The University of Akron men's golf team will take part in the Saint Mary's College Invitational Monday and Tuesday playing at the Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach, Calif.
The 16-team, 92-player tournament will consist of tough
competition as fellow Mid-American Conference school, Miami (Ohio),
will participate along with, CS Northridge, Long Beach State, UC
Irvine, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Santa Clara,
Gonzaga, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Texas-Arlington and Wisconsin.
The Zips will play 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 will be
played on Tuesday on the par-71, 6,639-yard course with both days
beginning at 7:30 a.m. (PST).
UA will look to better its performance after coming off an 11th place finish at the Adams Cup of Newport last week in Kingston, R.I.
Senior David Addison (Stewarton, Scotland/Stewarton Academy) was the highest Akron finisher completing the 54-hole event in a tie for 11th (221, 73-68-80), his career highest finish to date.
Adding to his personal bests in the event, Addison's 221 (+5)
was his lowest three-round score while his second round score of 68
was his lowest 18-hole score since entering college. His previous
low of 70 was obtained during his freshman spring season in
2006.
Freshman Scott Landreth (Ontario, Canada/St. Michael)
competing in his first event as a collegiate athlete, also gave a
strong performance for the Zips finishing tied for 16th out of the
field of 83 posting 223 (73-72-78).
