Men's Golf Back In Action At Aldila Intercollegiate

AKRON, Ohio - After a week off, the University of Akron men's golf team will resume play Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 26-27) at the Aldila Scenic City Invitational co-hosted by No. 17 University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and Middle Tennessee State at the par-72, 6,999-yard Council Fire Golf Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.
The Zips return to the links after hosting the Firestone Invitational (Oct. 11-12) where UA finished seventh carding a 897 at the par-72, 7,060-yard world renowned Firestone Country Club North Course.
Individually, sophomore Ryan Mason finished first for the Zips and in a tie for 16th overall carding a consistent 74-75-74 for a 5-over 223 score.
Zips newcomers junior Lucas Murray and freshman Cameron Simmons finished in a tie for 20th carding a 224. Murray fired off two rounds of 74 during day one at the 56-hole event followed by a 76 in round two. Simmons also went round for round during day one posting two rounds of 73 followed by a round three total of 78.
The Aldila Scenic City Invitational will be a 54-hole, two day format with the first 36 holes set for a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start on Monday followed by the final round on Tuesday.
Other teams participating in the 17-team field include Charlotte, College of Charleston, Eastern Michigan, Francis Marion, Furman, Iowa State, Kennesaw State, Maryland, Mercer, Missouri, South Florida, Southern Miss, Western Carolina and Wichita State.
