November 13 | Men's Golf
AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron men's
golf coach Nick Goetze announced Friday
that Auburn, Ga. native Drew Czuchry has signed a letter of intent
to continue his career as an Akron Zip beginning in 2010-11.
"Drew will be a tremendous addition to our team for the 2010
season," said Goetze. "He has a great work ethic and is committed
to his academic and athletic success. Drew's polished swing
technique and strong mental focus will certainly make him one of
our players to watch and I know he'll continue to build on a very
accomplished junior golf record as an Akron Zip."
Ranking #44 for the class of 2010, Czuchry is a two-time Player of the Year on the Georgia PGA Junior tour and in 2008 won the event. Totaling nine wins at the national, regional and state levels, Czuchry's most accomplished championship came at the American Junior Golf Association Charles Howell III Junior Championship in 2009. During the same year, Czuchry also helped his team win medalist honors at the Southern Junior Championship. Able to compete at all levels, Czuchry has finished in the top-15 in four other national events.
The Zips will return to the links in 2010 participating in the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate, Feb. 21-23, at the Magnolia Grove Golf Club in Mobile, Ala.
