Murray Named MAC Golfer of the Week

CLEVELAND - Finishing the fall season with the
lowest scoring average in the league, UA's Lucas Murray was named
the Mid-American Conference men's golfer of the week as announced
by the conference Thursday afternoon.
Holding a 71.69 scoring average on the season, Murray concluded the
fall with a second place finish at the 2009 Hummingbird
Intercollegiate (Nov. 2-3). Carding a 5-under 137 (68-69) on the
par-71, 6,797-yard Country Club of Sapphire Valley, Murray's second
place mark came amongst 102 players in the field.
The accomplishment was his second-best finish as a Zip, as Murray's best mark came at the Xavier Invitational (Oct. 5-6) when he took home the top spot scoring a 10-under 206 carding a 66-72-68 at the par-72, 6,921-yard Oasis Golf Club.
As a team at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate, the Zips tied for sixth place of 18 teams carding a 8-over 576 in the field.
The Zips will return to the links in 2010 participating in the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate, Feb. 21-23, at the Magnolia Grove Golf Club in Mobile, Ala.
