Tennis Paces Competition at Cougar Fall Draw

HOUSTON - The University of Akron tennis team advanced three players to the title match of their respective singles draw and one doubles team to the final in its flight on Saturday in the second day of competition at the Cougar Fall Draw, hosted by the University of Houston. The Zips' four title match appearances lead the 12-team team field.
Pacing Akron and moving themselves into Sunday's championship round of singles competition where sophomore Zara Harutyunyan in Flight A, freshman Angelika Jogasuria in Flight B and freshman Prang Pantusart in Flight C. Each player posted two wins on Friday to advance to today's semifinal round. Including in Harutyunyan's list of wins on Friday was a 1-6, 6-1, 11-9 decision over Rice's Rebekka Hanle - the event's No. 1 seed.
The team of Jogasuria and Pantusart also moved themselves into Sunday's finals contest in Flight B doubles. They scored three victories on Saturday, winning by counts of 8-0, 8-2, 8-2.
Competition concludes on Sunday. The event is the final one in the fall component of UA's schedule.
