Men's Golf Preps for 2009 Conference Championship

AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron men's
golf team will travel to Indianapolis, Ind. this weekend (April
30-May 2) to participate in the 2009 Mid-American Conference
Championship.
The four-round tournament will be played at the world-renowned
par-72, 6,994-yard Brickyard Crossing Golf Club on the grounds of
the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with holes No. 7-10 located within
the famed track's 2.5 mile oval. Designed by architect Pete Dye,
the course has been ranked among America's 100 Greatest Public Golf
Courses by Golf Digest Magazine.
The Zips placed fifth at the 2007-08 league championship with
current assistant coach Colin Clemente leading the way finishing
fourth overall while carding a 290 (72-73-70-75) on the par-72,
Longaberger Golf Club. Eastern Michigan picked up the team title
shooting 1,171 (296-288-299-288) strokes.
The event will consist of 36 holes Thursday, 18 holes Friday and
the final 18 holes are scheduled for Sunday. Live scoring for the
