GCAA Names Men's Golf All-Academic Team
September 01 | Men's Golf
AKRON, Ohio - The Golf Coaches Association of America announced Tuesday that The University of Akron men's golf team was named to the GCAA all-academic team.
One of just 45 Division I institutions to achieve the honor and one of only three Mid-American Conference schools the Zips have long considered academics a priority. Proven over the last two years, UA has placed three on the All-MAC academic teams and had one NCAA Academic All-American in current assistant coach Colin Clemente.
Finishing ninth last year at the league championships, Akron returns eight players from the 2008-09 season while welcoming three newcomers. The Zips will begin the 2009-10 season Sept. 13-14 at the Maryland Intercollegiate to be held at the River Marsh Golf Club in Cambridge, Md.
