Zips Ready For Three-Day Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate

AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron men's golf team will travel to Franklin Tenn. this weekend (Sept. 25-27) to play in the 2009 Mason Rudolph Championships hosted by Vanderbilt University at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.
The event will be played on the South Course with a par-71, 7,100-yard layout. Teams will tee off at 9 a.m. EST on both Friday and Saturday and tee off at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.
A 90-player field, 17-teams field will play along side the Zips including Arkansas State, Belmont, Charleston, Davidson, Georgia Tech, Lipscomb, Memphis, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, MTSU, Notre Dame, South Alabama, South Carolina (defending champion), UT Martin, Vanderbilt and Western Carolina.
Akron is coming off a season opening seventh place finish at the
Maryland Intercollegiate in which UA was led by freshman Cameron
Simmons who carded a 7-over 220 (72-73-75) finishing in a tie
for 23rd place. Fellow newcomer, junior transfer Lucas
Murray, finished second for UA in the event and tied for 27th
in the 81-player field posting a 8-over 221 (73-74-74).
