Men's Golf In Good Position After Day One

- The University of Akron men's golf team sits 11th Friday after
18 holes at the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate hosted by Vanderbilt
University.
"I was pleased with the consistent scoring from our guys today,"
said head coach Nick Goetze. "The depth in
our line-up continues to be the biggest key to our improved team
results. This may be one of the strongest fields we will face this
season and I have a lot of confidence in our team's ability to rise
to the occasion this week."
Carding a 287 (+3) combined score on the challenging par-71,
7,100-yard Vanderbilt Legends Club South Course, UA was led by
sophomore Ryan Mason who carded a
one-under 70 tying for 24th out of the field of 90 players.
Juniors Doug Underwood and Lucas
Murray are currently tied for 38th after carding a one-over 72
and freshman Cameron Simmons and
sophomore Scott Landreth round out the
Zips scorecard scoring a respective 73 and 75.
The Zips are playing along side Arkansas State, Belmont,
Charleston, Davidson, Georgia Tech, Lipscomb, Memphis, Ole Miss,
Mississippi State, MTSU, Notre Dame, South Alabama, South Carolina
(defending champion), UT Martin, Vanderbilt and Western
Carolina.
