Men's Golf Travels to North Carolina for Hummingbird Intercollegiate

The University of Akron men's golf team will travel to Sapphire, N.C., for the Hummingbird Intercollegiate on October 31-November 1 at the par-71, 6,767-yard Country Club of Sapphire Valley.
This year's event will see 18 teams take the course, including Appalachian State, Alabama-Birmingham, Elon, Francis Marion, Furman, Gardner-Webb, High Point, IPFW, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Kentucky, Radford, Samford, Vanderbilt, Winthrop, Wofford and host Western Carolina.
The Zips enter the tournament following a second-place finish at the Memphis Intercollegiate on October 26.
Akron defeated six of the seven teams ranked in Golfweek's top-100 at the event, falling only to No. 91-ranked South Alabama (878, +14).
Senior Lucas Murray ended the tournament in a tie for eighth place after carding a final-round 77 (+5). He ended the week with a three-round score of 5-over 221 (71-73-77).
Play is set to begin on Monday at 9 a.m. ET, with teams teeing off from the first and ninth tee boxes. The final round will be played Tuesday morning, with tee times set for 9 a.m. ET. Follow all of the action live on the Internet via www.golfstatresults.com.
