Men's Golf Tied for 14th Place After Day One of Hummingbird Intercollegiate

SAPPHIRE, N.C. -
The University of Akron men's golf team is tied for 14th place after day one of the Hummingbird Intercollegiate at the par-71, 6,767-yard Country Club of Sapphire Valley on Monday.
The Zips carded a 15-over 299 on the day, led by Cameron Simmons' round of 2-under 69. He sits three shots behind tournament-leader Adam Hofmann of Vanderbilt (-5, 66) and is tied for fifth place. Vanderbilt grabbed the day one lead after carding a 7-under 277.
Freshman Drew Czuchry finished the day tied for 62nd place after posting a score of 5-over 76. Senior Lucas Murray and freshman Charlie Bull sit in a tie for 73rd place after carding identical rounds of 6-over 77.
Junior Scott Landreth sits in a tie for 88th place after completing his round of 8-over 79. Sophomore Tim Lew, playing as an individual, finished the day tied for 53rd place, firing a round of 4-over 75.
