April 24 | Women's Tennis
KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The nationally-ranked University of Akron tennis team scored a 5-2 win over Western Michigan on Saturday in the regular-season finale for both teams. The Mid-American Conference contest began outdoors at Sorensen Courts and was moved indoors to West Hills Athletic Club when rain hit during the singles portion of competition.
Akron (18-2, 7-1 MAC) will be the No. 2 seed in next week's MAC
Championship, which will be held on the WMU campus. The 73rd-ranked

league wins and tallied the most overall victories since the
1990-91 squad posted a 26-6 mark, will face No. 7 seeded Bowling
Green (12-9, 2-6) in the quarterfinal round on Friday at 2 p.m. ET.
UA clinched a first-round bye for the second-consecutive year and
has achieved its highest-ever finish in the conference standings.
Miami (Ohio) (15-6, 8-0) captured the No. 1 seed as regular-season
champion. The tournament winner will earn the conference's
automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
