April 30 | Men's Golf
Nashport, Ohio - The University of Akron men's golf team sits in a solid fourth place Friday after two rounds at the 2010 Mid-American Conference Championship at the par-72, 7,243-yard Longaberger Golf Club.
"The fast greens and windy conditions made the course play tough today and we really stayed patient in both rounds," said head coach Nick Goetze. "Our disciplined game plan kept us in good position for tomorrow and we need to remain committed to our plan to the finish. We've worked hard as a team to turn our spring around and I know we still have a low round in us."
Carding a 608 (306-302) as a team, sophomore Scott Landreth leads the way for the Zips carding a 3-over 147 shooting two rounds of 76 and 71 sitting in a tie for seventh place.
Senior Jacob Patte falls second for UA with a 8-over 152 (74-78) tying for 17th place. Junior Lucas Murray sits tied for 23rd with a 154 (76-78).
Freshman Cameron Simmons and junior Doug Underwood round out the Zips scorecard posting a 157. Simmons carded a 81 and 76 while Underwood marked a 80 and 77.
Kent State leads both the team and individual fields carding a 2-over 578 as a team while Golden Flash Brett Cairns holds a 2-under 142.
Round three will take place Saturday followed by the fourth and final round set for Sunday.
