Murray Named Men's Golfer of the Week

Akron, Ohio - As announced by the Mid-American Conference Thursday, senior Lucas Murray has been named the league's Golfer of the Week after his performance at the Maryland Intercollegiate.
Boasting the honor for the second time in his Akron career, Murray carded a team leading (210) on the on the par-71, 6,801 yard River Marsh Golf Club. Shooting a 2-under 69 to open, Murray was the only Zip to post all three rounds at par carding a 71 and 70 in rounds two and three. Sixth after day one, Murray moved up two spots to finish fourth place overall in the 78-player field.
As a team, the Zips carded a 287-291-290 in their first tournament of the year for a sixth place finish. Akron will return to action tomorrow (Sept. 24-26) for the 54-hole Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate to be hosted at the Legends Golf Club in Franklin, Tenn.
