Men's Golf Readies For Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate

Akron, Ohio - The University of Akron men's golf team is prepping for the 10th annual Mason Rudolph Championship at the par-71, 7,100-yard Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.
The Zips are coming off their first event of the season where they placed sixth at the Maryland Intercollegiate. Carding a 287-291 to open play last weekend, the Zips posted a 290 to round out their first tournament of the year.
Senior Lucas Murray carded a team leading (210) on the par-71, 6,801 yard River Marsh Golf Club to finish fourth in the 78-player field. Shooting a 2-under 69 to open, Murray was the only Zip to post all three rounds at par carding a 71 and 70 in rounds two and three. Murray's play earned him Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week honors for the second time in his career.
Attending the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate for the second consecutive season, the Zips placed 12th at last year's event. A 54-hole event, the squads will play 18 holes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
An 17-team field, Akron will join Arkansas State, Belmont, Davidson, Georgia State, Lipscomb, Memphis, Mississippi State, MTSU, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, South Alabama, South Carolina, UT Chattanooga, UT Martin and Western Carolina.
