Men's Golf Seventh After Round One

Franklin, Tenn. - Freshmen Drew Czuchry leads the Zips after day one at the 10th annual Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate. As a team, UA sits seventh in the 17-team field carding a 5-over, 289 on the par-71, 7,100-yard Vanderbilt Legends Club.
"The conditions were very windy today and our team played well to get off to a solid start," said head coach Nick Goetze. "The competition is strong this week, so we are going to need even better scoring in rounds two and three to move up the board. Fortunately, the depth of our team this year will likely translate in more top finishes and a good results in Nashville this weekend."
Czuchry was the only Zip under par carding a 70 to sit tied for 11th place. Three Zips, including freshman Charlie Bull, junior Scott Landreth and senior Lucas Murray posted a 73 during round one. Sophomore Cameron Simmons rounds out the day one scorecard with a 78 mark.
Akron is playing along side Arkansas State, Belmont, Davidson, Georgia State, Lipscomb, Memphis, Mississippi State, MTSU, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, South Alabama, South Carolina, UT Chattanooga, UT Martin and Western Carolina.
