Men's Golf Finishes Ninth At Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate

Franklin, Tenn. - The University of Akron men's golf team finished ninth Sunday at the 10th Annual Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate carding a 866 (289-287-290) on the par-71, 7,100-yard Vanderbilt Legends Club.
"We didn't come through with the under par round we needed today but Lucas Murray and Drew Czuchry put together solid individual finishes," said head coach Nick Goetze. "The guys have had much more consistent scoring this season and I know that we are going to turn the corner soon. We haven't played up to our capabilities yet and we just need to stay patient."
Senior Murray finished first for UA continually improving each round. Posting an opening round of 73, Murray carded a 70 on Saturday, and rounded out his performance with a 68 to finish in a tie for 10th in the 90-player field.
Freshman Czuchry followed Murray finishing 18th overall posting a first round of 70 followed by two rounds of 72 (214). Junior Scott Landreth and sophomore Cameron Simmons both carded a 224 posting rounds of 73-74-77 and 78-71-75. Freshman Charlie Bull rounded out the event with a 227 (73-79-75).
Akron played along side Arkansas State, Belmont, Davidson, Georgia State, Lipscomb, Memphis, Mississippi State, MTSU, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, South Alabama, South Carolina, UT Chattanooga, UT Martin and Western Carolina. Memphis took home both titles carding a 842 (274-284-284) as a team with the Tigers Jack Belote finishing with the top individual mark of 205 (66-69-70).
The Zips will return to action next weekend at the Weibring Intercollegiate slated for Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 2-3) in Normal, Ill.
