Charlie Bull Named MAC Golfer of the Week

CLEVELAND – University of Akron men's golfer Charlie Bull has been named Mid-American Conference Men's Golfer of the Week the league office announced on Thursday.
Bull earned his first golfer of the week honor after finishing tied for third place at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate on Oct. 2. He carded two rounds under par to finish with a three-round score of even-par 213 to help the Zips to a second-place finish.
The weekend opened with Bull firing a round of 2-under 69 during the first round before a round of 76 (+5) put him in a tie for fifth after day one. He closed out the event with his fifth round of par or better on Sunday, carding a 3-under 68.
Through nine rounds this season, Bull is carrying an average of 71.44 and has posted three of Akron's four lowest single-round scores. He has now finished in the top-16 in each of the last six events – including three top-12 finishes this season – and enters next week's Firestone Invitational ranked No. 86 in the country in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings.
Bull and the Zips return to action on Oct. 10 when they play host to The Firestone Invitational on the Firestone Country Club North Course, Akron's home course. The 17-team field will play two rounds of golf on Monday and one round on Tuesday.
