AKRON, Ohio - University of Akron men's golf coach Nick Goetze announced on Wednesday that Harry Whittle, a native of Milton Keynes, England, has signed a national letter of intent to play for the Zips starting in the 2011-12 season. "Harry is a fantastic player and, most importantly, has great character and will be a great addition to the program," Goetze said. "We are excited that we have been able to recruit such a successful player that will fit in great at The University of Akron."
Whittle brings vast international experience to the Zips, having appeared in numerous events across Europe, as an individual, a team representative of England and with his club team. On the international scene, Whittle has been a constant contributor on several national teams, representing England at the Dutch Junior Masters (2008), the R & A Junior Open (2008) and against Spain (2008).
Whittle, the son Ian and Marian Whittle, attended the Bedford School in Bedfordshire, England, where he carried a 3.0 GPA and graduated in 2009. He speaks four languages, including English, Portuguese, Spanish and French.
