NORMAN, Okla. – Former University of Akron men's golfer Lucas Murray and current senior Scott Landreth were named 2011 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Wednesday.
A total of 138 players in Division I were named All-America Scholars this season. The honor is the second-consecutive honor for Murray and is the first for Landreth. The honors are the fourth and fifth for the program, including Colin Clemente (2008) and Billy Williamson (1999).
Murray, who graduated in May with a degree in corporate financial management, finished his college career with a 3.732 GPA and broke the school record for career scoring average (73.70, 71 rounds). He led the team in Par 3 scoring (3.21), birdies (83), fewest bogeys per round (3.54), fairways hit (.638) and tied for first for lowest round (68).
In addition to academic honors from the GCAA, Murray was named Academic All-MAC in June.
