Men's Golf Tied for Tenth at Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The University of Akron men's golf team sits in a three-way tie for tenth place after one round at the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate on Friday at the par-71, 7,100-yard Vanderbilt Legends Club.
The Zips posted a first-round score of 9-over 293 and are tied with Belmont and Samford. Eleven of the 14 teams in the field are within nine shots of the lead, which is held by Georgia Southern (285, +1).
Sophomore Charlie Bull continued his strong play during the young season, posting a round of even-par 71 to finish tied for 11th place and two shots behind the leaders.
Despite a rough start to the round, junior Cameron Simmons rebounded with six birdies to card a round of 2-over 73 and is in a 12-man group that is tied for 27th place. Senior Ryan Mason concluded the opening day tied for 38th place with a round of 74 (+3) while senior Scott Landreth is tied for 47th place at 4-over 75.
Freshman Harry Whittle, playing in his first collegiate tournament, is in 78th place after shooting a round of 11-over 82.
