Men's Golf Returns to Illinois for D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate

AKRON, Ohio – For the second time this season, The University of Akron men's golf team will travel to the state of Illinois, this time to take part in the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate on Oct. 1-2 at the Weibring Golf Club in Normal, Ill.
The event will consist of 36 holes Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday. Play will begin Saturday with a 9:15 a.m. ET shotgun start with the second round to immediately follow. Sunday will begin with a 9:30 a.m. ET shotgun start.
This year's field includes three Golfstat Top-100 teams, including the No. 98 Zips. No. 96 Arkansas State, Bradley, Detroit, No. 48 Illinois, Illinois State (host), Missouri State, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, SIU-Edwardsville, Southern Illinois, No. 6 West Florida (Division II), Western Illinois and Wisconsin will also compete.
Akron is coming off of a ninth-place finish at the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate on Sept. 25. The Zips finished with a three-day score of 866 (+14).
Sophomore Charlie Bull led the way for the Zips for the second-consecutive week, finishing in a two-way tie for sixth place with a score of 3-under 210. He set a new personal-best round thanks to his 5-under 66 during day two.
