Charlie Bull Named to PING All-Region Team

SANTA MONICA, Calif. – Following his first appearance in the NCAA Regional event, University of Akron sophomore golfer Charlie Bull became the first UA golfer to earn a spot on the Division I PING All-Region team, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced on Wednesday.
Bull, the first Akron golfer to qualify for the postseason since the men's golf team moved to Division I in 1980, is one of 155 players to be named to one of the six regional teams. He is joined by 25 student-athletes, including six from the Mid-American Conference, on the Midwest team.
Bull finished with a three-round tally of even-par 213 to finish tied for 19th place at the NCAA Regional event on May 19 in Ann Arbor, Mich. He torched the front-nine to the tune of 5-under 31 en route to his career-low tying round of 5-under 66. He also posted a round of 5-under 66 during the second round of the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate (Sept. 24) during the fall campaign.
The sophomore campaign for Bull ended with eight top-25's in 12 events and a team-best 73.00 scoring average. He posted five of the top seven individual rounds and five of the top-six three-round totals this season while also earning first-team All-MAC honors.
Bull and the Zips will return to action when they kick of the 2012-13 season in September.
The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) is the professional association of men's golf coaches. Established in 1958, this non-profit organization is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing its members who participate in men's golf at all levels.
