Tennis Wraps Up Competition at Cissie Leary Invitational

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Akron tennis team closed out its participation at this weekend's Cissie Leary Invitational with players competing in the main draw quarterfinal round of both flight A doubles and flight B singles. The three-day event was hosted by Penn.
In the flight B singles quarterfinal, UA's Ksenia Berestetska retired due to injury after losing her first set with Penn's Alex Ion, 6-4. In the flight A doubles quarterfinal, the Zips pair of Angelina Jogasuria and Madison Cohen lost 8-3 to Dartmouth's Akiko Okuda and Katherine Yau.
Jogasuria also advanced to the singles flight A round of 16, where she was defeated 6-3, 6-3 by Cornell's Ryann Young on Saturday. Berestetska won 6-1, 7-5 over Columbia's Amy Li in the flight B round of 16.

Akron will take a break from competition this week to prepare for the Spartan Invitational at Michigan State on Oct. 5-7. The Midwest regionals are Oct. 18-23 at Illinois.
