Men's Golf Signs Elliott Grayson to Class of 2014-15

AKRON, Ohio – University of Akron men's golf head coach David Trainor announced on Thursday that Elliott Grayson (Shelby, N.C.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Zips beginning with the 2014-15 season.
Grayson, a senior at Shelby High School, is a two-time South Mountain Athletic Conference (SMAC) Player of Year honoree and is currently ranked No. 114 in the Class of 2014 by Golfweek Magazine.
"I am thrilled to welcome Elliott to the Zips Nation," Trainor said. "He is a very accomplished golfer, student and most importantly, a very good person. He is the type of student-athlete that I look for and I am proud to have him representing our golf team and The University of Akron. I look forward to helping Elliott reach his goals and have him help us reach our goal of winning championships."
In addition to his outstanding playing career at SHS, he has built an impressive resume in the amateur golf world, including 64 career wins. He is also a three-time Western North Carolina Junior Golf Association (WNCJGA) Player of the Year.
Grayson has posted wins at the 2013 American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Preseason Junior at St. James Plantation and the 2011 Old North State Championship, among others. He has also recorded top-10 finishes at the 2013 U.S. Junior Amateur Qualifier, 2013 NCHSAA 2A State Championships and the 2013 Dogwood State Championship.
Grayson is a member of the National Honor Society, French Club and the French National Honor Society.
