Spartan Invitational Draw in PDF Format
AKRON, Ohio – Competing for the third-straight week, the Zips women's tennis team travels to East Lansing, Mich., this weekend to participate in the Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational at Michigan State. The tournament runs Friday to Sunday at the MSU Outdoor Tennis Courts.
Akron will be one of seven teams competing this weekend, joining Cleveland State, Illinois-Chicago, IPFW, Toledo, host Michigan State and Wisconsin in an event that features three flights of both singles and doubles.

UA will be represented in flight A singles by junior Olga Shkundina, while freshman Shannon Newnes will line up in the flight B singles draw. Those two will team up in flight A doubles.
Competition begins on Friday at 9 a.m. ET.
Last weekend, the Zips competed in the Cissie Leary Invitational at Penn at which senior Ksenia Berestetska won the flight A singles consolation bracket. UA opened its fall schedule at the Cornell Invitational on Sept. 13-15 where its pair of Shkundina and Newnes won the flight A doubles draw and sophomore Madison Cohen won the flight C singles bracket.
The Zips play host to their own tournament on Oct. 4-6 at LaTuchie Tennis Center in nearby Stow, with Cornell, Ohio State and West Virginia visiting Akron. The fall season concludes on Oct. 10-14 at the USTA/ITA Regional Championships in Ann Arbor, Mich.
