AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron men's golf team will open its 2013 fall schedule on Sunday at the Golfweek Program Challenge on the par-72, 6,940-yard True Blue Golf Club.
The men's squad will be joined by the women's squad at the event, which awards a men's and women's team champion, as well as a program team champion (combined men's and women's scores from each program). This is the first appearance for Akron in the event.
This year's edition of the Golfweek Program Challenge will feature three Golfstat Top-100 teams, including No. 87 Campbell, No. 92 Jacksonville State and the 98th-ranked Zips. The rest of the field includes Boston College, Gardner-Webb, IUPUI, James Madison, Northern Iowa, Old Dominion, Stetson, Valparaiso and Western Carolina.
The 54-hole event is set to begin Sunday at 7:30 a.m. ET with players teeing off from the first and tenth tees. The Zips are set to tee off from the No. 1 tee at 7:30 a.m.
Rounds two and three are set for Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Fans can follow all three rounds via Golfstat Live Scoring.
