Men's Golf Heads to Indiana for the Sagamore Fall Preview

AKRON, Ohio – Coming off a top-five finish last Tuesday at The Firestone Invitational, Presented by FirstEnergy Solutions, the University of Akron men's golf team heads to Noblesville, Ind., on Monday for the Sagamore Fall Preview on the par-72, 7,173-yard Sagamore Club.
The Zips will face a talented filed that includes squads from Auburn, Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Florida Gulf Coast, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisville, Northern Illinois, Purdue, Toledo, UAB and Xavier.
Play is set to begin on Monday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. ET. The second round will immediately follow the conclusion of the first round. Tuesday's final round will begin at 8:30 a.m., with tee times on the first and tenth tees. Fans can follow all the action via Golfstat Live Scoring.
Akron is coming off a fifth-place finish at last week's Firestone Invitational. As a team, the Zips posted ended play with a three-round score of 884 (+20).
Louis Birchall led the way for the Zips, finishing with a 54-hole score of 3-under 213 to finish in second place. Trailing by two shots entering the final two holes, Birchall finished birdie-birdie to finish in second place. His chip-in birdie on 18 gave him a share of the lead for a brief moment, before his playing partner sank his birdie put on 18 to win the event out-right. His effort earned him Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week honors.
J.B. Williams earned his second top-20 finish of the fall, concluding the event in a tie for 16th place (220, +4).
