Zerbola & Maksimava Conclude Play at Midwest Regional

URBANA, Ill. — Two Zips women's tennis players concluded play at the 2014 USTA/ITA Midwest Regional at the Atkins Tennis Center on Friday after doubles action.
Junior Martina Zerbola (Neuquen, Argentina) and sophomore Karolina Maksimava (Mogilev, Belarus) won their first doubles match with an 8-6 victory over Eastern Illinois' Ali Foster and Hannah Kimbrough.
In their second doubles match, the Zips' duo lost to Northwestern's Alicia Barnett and Brooke Rischbieth, 8-4.
"Today was very up and down," head coach Brandon Padgett said. "In the win, we played very poorly, but in the loss, we played much better. We will continue to work on more consistent play as we head towards the spring season."
Akron travels to West Virginia for a tournament on Oct. 31-Nov. 2.
